Hawks Vs Celtics Game 5: Coaches Corner

(SL) – Watching tape will be two different experiences for Hawks Coach Mike Budenholzer and Celtics Coach Brad Stevens.  Coach Bud will look for ways to take what they did to Boston for Game 6 while Coach Stevens will probably look closely to figure out what the hell happened. Atlanta completely dominated Boston 110-83 in another embarrassing loss inside Philips Arena. The Hawks could wrap up the series (3-2) on Thursday and Coach Bud says they will certainly try to find ways to keep the momentum and carry on when they get to TD Garden.  Here are both Coaches’ Pressers for Game 5.

Coach Mike Budenholzer Sums Up Atlanta’s 110-83 Win in Game 5:

On the other side Celtics Coach Brad Stevens Talks About What Went Wrong And Regrouping:

These two will definitely do battle Thursday night at 8pm in Boston. The Celtics will be fighting for their lives and The Hawks will give it all they’ve got to close the series and get ready for the next round.  If not, Game 7 will take place in Atlanta on Saturday!

Kent Bazemore and Mike Scott Lead Hawks To Blowout Over Celtics In Game 5

(SL) – The Hawks were looking for redemption and a chance to regain the lead in the series when they stepped on the court Tuesday.  After a slow 1st quarter, in which the hawks shot just 24% from the field, Kent Bazemore and Mike Scott would hit the boost button and take Atlanta to a 47-39 lead at the half.

DSC_9341It was pretty much over at that point.  By the end of the 3rd quarter, 5 Hawks’ players were in double digits and Atlanta was blowing out Boston 89-62. Celtics star guard Isaiah Thomas struggled from the field shooting just 3-12 from the field 0-4 from the arc.  He left the game early after rolling his ankle.  Post Game  I asked Bazemore and Scott what the strategy was for locking down Thomas. (Third Question)

Mike Scott led all players with 17 points while Bazemore had 16.  Jeff Teague also had 16 while Kyle Korver chipped in 13 and Paul Millsap was good for just 10 after scoring almost 50 points against the Celtics in game 4. Game 6 is Thursday in Boston!

Did Rachel Roy Out Herself As Jay Z’s Mistress

(SL) – Where is Solange? 😉 If you ever wondered why Beyonce stood back calm and collected while Solange unleashed a barrage of kicks and punches at Jay Z in that notorious elevator scene after the Met Gala, some of the megastar’s new album “Lemonade” might give some insight.

solange-600After the HBO special, Beyonce released the album on Jay Z’s streaming service Tidal Saturday night and there is a strong theme of adultery and numerous references to an unfaithful partner.

Even though the album sounds intensely personal, there was no proof that she was talking about her marriage to Jay z directly until Rachel Roy decided to be bold and reference the lyrics, “He better call Becky with the good hair.”337BA71C00000578-3556292-image-m-4_1461511353661Sorry, the 4th track on Lemonade hits back at a guy for his lame attempt at an apology after he cheated on his lady.  “Middle fingers up, put them hands high,” Beyonce sings. “Wave it in his face, tell him, boy, bye. Tell him, boy, bye, middle fingers up. I ain’t thinking ‘bout you.” So good. The song ends by calling out the girl he cheated with: “He better call Becky with the good hair.”

Hours after the special aired Roy took to her Instagram page and made the below post.

337EE33800000578-3556292-image-a-2_1461511074512
Now of course one could argue that Rachel’s post had nothing to do with Beyonce’s lyrics but she’s never mentioned ‘good hair’ ever before in or during her online existence. EVER. You also have to remember that when it was first reported that the fight in the elevator was about Rachel’s indiscretions with Sean Carter, she messily quoted lyrics from one of Jay Z’s songs on her twitter page.  And most tellingly, why delete the comment and make your IG page private after Beyonce’s fans gave you the response you were looking for?  I know she didn’t think that people were too busy sipping lemonade to notice.

Some of Beyonce’s lyrics on the Lemonade album:

Needless to say the ‘Beyhive’ wasted no time in dragging Rachel to possible extinction.  I don’t know what she was thinking, but  alluding to a possible affair with the world’s most beloved female singer’s husband is not a smart chess move. Not only was Rachel’s Wikipedia profile hacked, she received so much negative backlash that she made her IG private.  If she could still keep verification on twitter privately, she probably would’ve closed that page off to the public as well.

The Beyhive Attacks Rachel Roy For Taunting Beyonce:

Not sure what her point was/is but she should probably tape her twitter fingers together and call it a wrap. Seeming to find the error of her ways, Rachel then tried to post a message on twitter about respecting marriage, love, families and strength and closed the tweet by saying bullying shouldn’t be tolerated. Huh? Time for Rachel Roy to have several seats and hope that she still has a job tomorrow morning and that her clothing line doesn’t fold from the subsequent scrutiny of not only her ignorance but the glorification of potentially being someone’s sidepiece.

“Wait A Few Days Before You Waste Your Prayers” Prophetic Words As The Purple One Leaves Us At 57

(SL) – He’s the only artist that was able to negotiate sex and God at the same time and get away with it. Virtuoso indeed, now, the Doves are truly crying as the world says goodbye to musical genius Prince, who passed suddenly at the age of 57. Although it was sudden, a lot of people aren’t surprised because Prince’s final days included canceled concerts and an emergency landing after his show in Atlanta. He spent three hours in the hospital and was released. The Icon had been battling the flu for a couple of weeks but assured everyone that he was fine during an impromptu concert at his ‘Paisley Palace’ in Minnesota on Saturday.

As writer Adam McKay said, it’s as if the Grand Canyon died.  Born Prince Roger Nelson, The Purple One, The Sign, The Genius or The Artist Formerly known as released his debut album in 1978, at the age of 19, and he played every instrument on “For You”,  and would do the same for 5 of his albums. He was a true instrumentalist who would sell more than 100 million albums worldwide.

The 57-year-old singer was found unresponsive in an elevator at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota, Carver County Sheriff Jim Olson said. Paramedics tried to perform CPR but were unable to revive him, the sheriff said. He was pronounced dead at 10:07 a.m., less than 30 minutes after sheriff’s deputies responded to a medical call at the scene.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death, Olson said. An autopsy will be performed by the Midwest regional medical examiner, tomorrow.

Kyle Korver Lights Up The Celtics Helps Move Hawks To 2-0 Series Lead

(SL) – When Kyle Korver hit the court Tuesday night you could tell he was in a zone. He looked intense  and although he was probably walking at a normal pace as he made his way through the line, the  ferocious look he had in his eyes made it look as if he was walking in slow motion.

Korver was indeed about to make a movie. Out the gate the 3 point king was draining threes and forcing the Celtics to reevaluate any defensive measure they thought they could angle. Korver had 17 pts, 7 rebounds and shot 5-7 from the arc helping the Hawks take game 2 in the NBA playoffs 89-72. Yes, Korver had the same number of 3 pointers as the entire Celtics team. Korver also had 1 BS to add to a franchise record 15 blocks for the Hawks.

Post Game I asked the 3pt king about his shooting and the intensity he carried for the night:

Celtics Coach Brad Stevens was asked if they were slightly misled by Korver’s 2 pts in game 1 and he quickly responded with, “No.” Stevens said that Korver is the type of player that’s a part of Boston’s daily conversation. He said there were no excuses for what happened. Atlanta dominated the game and that’s it.

Part I

Coach Brad Stevens Part II

The Celtics were led by Isaiah Thomas who scored 16 points. Boston was held to just 72 points for the game and shot poorly from the 3 pt line (5-28). They shot just 32 % from the field.

{Video} Hawks Go Up 2-0 As They Annihilate Celtics In Game 2 Of The NBA Playoffs

(SL) -The NBA Playoffs continued Tuesday night with the Atlanta Hawks and the Boston Celtics facing off for game 2 at Philips Arena.  But it wasn’t much of a match with Atlanta  coming out the gate early and setting the tone for a complete blowout. Boston never had a chance after being limited to just 7 – 1st quarter points. Something that Celtics 2nd unit leader Evan Turner says was just downright unacceptable.DSC_8688Post Game I asked Boston Guard Evan Turner about The Celtics’ slow start:

Overall, the Hawks would hold them to just 72 points for the night..a serious compliment to the defensive effort by the Atlanta.  Coach Mike Budenholzer talked about the way the Hawks started the game and their defensive focus.

The Hawks hope to maintain their momentum as they prepare to travel to Boston for game 3 on Friday. Tip off is at 8 pm.

Atlanta Holds Off Boston To Take Game 1 In The NBA Playoffs

(SL) – Let the games begin! It was a live one at Philips Arena for Game 1 of the NBA playoffs and the Atlanta Hawks came out aggressive and made a statement. They’ve been here before and certainly the goal is to take care of the Celtics and get to round 2. Atlanta held Boston To just 23% shooting in the first half but started slacking on defense and before you knew it their lead was down to just 3. But again, the Hawks have been here before and they were ready for battle and eventually won the war 102-101.  944938_1171835086173549_7590924775556123329_nAl Horford led the way with 24 points and 12 rebounds while Jeff Teague grabbed a double double as well with 23 pints and 12 assists. Teague was in attack mode. Post game he acknowledges their 2nd half defensive flaws and setting the tone for the series.

Kent Bazemore was also on fire pulling in a season high 23 points and 8 rebounds. Coach Mike Budenholzer talked about Baze’s focus and gives him credit for stepping up and helping the Hawks come alive for game 1.
