(SL) – A medical examiner has determined G-Leaguer Zeke Upshaw suffered a ”sudden cardiac death” after collapsing on the court over the weekend.
Medical examiner Dr. Stephen Cohle says he observed some ”cardiac abnormalities” during his autopsy and he’s working to determine the exact type of heart disease.
The 26-year-old Upshaw collapsed during a game for Grand Rapids on Saturday and died two days later.
(Grenoble, France) – French authorities have arrested a man who tried to run over troops at an army base in southeast France. Reports say the man and a female passenger were circling the barracks in the base near Grenoble today, shouting threats at soldiers. The driver then allegedly shouted death threats in Arabic as he tried to run over a group of jogging soldiers.
He ended up driving into a ditch, abandoning the stolen vehicle and fleeing. Police sealed off the area and arrested him within hours. The reason for the attack remains unclear. It happened less than a week after an ISIS terrorist hijacked a car and went on a shooting spree in southwestern France.
(SL) – Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai is back in Pakistan for the first time since the Taliban tried to assassinate her more than five years ago. The 20-year-old activist for educating girls and women arrived secretly today and was taken to a hotel in Islamabad under heavy security. She’s scheduled to meet with the prime minister and other officials as part of a four-day visit. Yousafzai is now a student at Oxford University in England.
She’s the youngest person ever awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, which she received when she was 17. She was 15 when a Taliban gunman shot her in the head as she rode a bus home from school. She was taken to England for treatment and has lived there ever since.
(Trenton, NJ) – A Superior Court judge in New Jersey is being accused of violating the code of judicial conduct by asking a rape victim if she kept her legs closed. Ocean County Judge John Russo Junior has been barred from the bench and faces four charges that were announced Monday.
In addition to the rape victim incident, Russo is accused of using his office to influence scheduling of a personal legal matter, failing to recuse himself from a case where he had a personal relationship and improperly communicating with someone in a paternity matter he oversaw.
Russo has been on paid administrative leave after refusing a mental health evaluation. He’s suing for workplace discrimination.
(Fort Lauderdale, FL) – Accused Parkland, Florida mass murderer Nikolas Cruz is getting a lot of fan mail at the Broward County Jail. Some of it includes love letters complete with suggestive pictures.
Facebook communities have also popped up for people to talk about how they can help the man accused of gunning down 17 people February 14th at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Cruz has reportedly received at least 800-dollars for his prison commissary account.
A few of the notes are religious in nature with concern for Cruz’s soul. Cruz hasn’t seen any of the sexually-charged photos as it is against jail policy.
(Fort Lauderdale, FL) — The brother of the accused Parkland, Florida high school shooter is due back in court today. Zachary Cruz was arrested on March 19th for trespassing after Broward County Sheriff’s deputies found him skateboarding on the same campus where Nikolas Cruz is accused of murdering 17 people.
Zachary’s attorney will be seeking to reduce his bond, which was increased from the original 25-dollars to 500-thousand-dollars. If convicted of trespassing, Cruz faces up to 60 days in jail and a fine of 500-dollars.

(SL) – R. Kelly is facing new accusations related to sexually abusing minors. The latest, made by a former girlfriend in a BBC documentary, says the singer grooms girls as sex “pets,” including one as young as 14.
The girlfriend says she realized the Kelly was trying to groom her as well. The woman said Kelly made the girl crawl around and perform a sex act on her. Kelly hasn’t commented but has previously denied any improper behavior.
(New York, NY) – Rapper DMX is facing the music after being sentenced in a tax fraud case. A judge sentenced DMX to a year in prison on Wednesday. Prosecutors say the rapper, born Earl Simmons, failed to pay nearly two-million-dollars in taxes.
The judge granted a request from Simmons before handing down the sentence and allowed DMX’s song “Slippin” to be played for the court.
His attorney asked that the song be played so the judge could get a better sense of his client’s personality.
(SL) – Rapper Fabolous is in trouble with the law. TMZ is reporting he surrendered to cops in Englewood, New Jersey last night after his longtime girlfriend, “Love and Hip Hop” star Emily B reported that he had hit her.
Fabolous, real name John David Jackson, didn’t spend any time in jail, but was given a citation and a court date. No word yet on when that’ll be.
