(SL) – The 2018 Bounce Trumpet Awards, the prestigious annual event celebrating African-American achievements and contributions, will air exclusively on Bounce on Sunday, February 11 at 9:00 p.m. ET.

Larenz Tate, Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award-winner and Power series star and Erica Ash, who appears on Survivor’s Remorse and stars in the upcoming BET legal drama series In Contempt, will serve as this year’s hosts. The gala black-tie ceremony will be held at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, Georgia on Sat. Jan. 20, 2018.

 2018 Honorees announced today: Jermaine Dupri, Cameo, Richelieu Dennis, Tamika Mallory, Marley Dias, Dr. Lonnie Johnson and Rhyon Brown.

 Performers at the event will include: Doug E. Fresh, Keke WyattAnthony Hamilton, Bow Wow, Sir the BaptistArrested Development, Estelle, Bilal, Big Daddy Kane, V. BozemanDonald Lawrence, Major, We’ McDonald, Mr. TalkBox, Kevin Lemons & Higher Calling, Rhyon Brown, Michel’le, Stokley Williams and Carl Thomas.

 Cee Lo Green, Omar Gooding and Angell Conwell will be among the presenters.

 About this year’s honorees and awards:

·      GRAMMY® Award-winning record producer, songwriter, hip-hop artist, Jermaine Dupri will receive The Music Innovation Award. Dupri has worked with Mariah Carey, Usher, Jay-Z, Janet Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Anthony Hamilton and Alicia Keys. He founded So So Def Recordings in 1993 which launched the careers of Bow Wow, Xscape, Da Brat, Jagged Edge and many others.

Just this month, it was announced that Dennis’s Essence Ventures, LLC will acquire Essence Communications, Inc. which includes Essence Magazine.

 ·      Activist and National Co-Chair of the Women’s March, Tamika Mallory, will receive The Impact Award. In 2009, Mallory became the youngest Executive Director of the National Action Network (NAN). She gained recognition as one of four co-chairs of the Women’s March on Washington, which saw participation from five million people worldwide. Her role in the March landed her on the 2017 Time 100 Pioneers List and Fortune’s 2017 List of the World’s Greatest Leaders.

{Video} T.I. Hosts ‘KEANU’ Screening In The ATL

(SL )– Last night, Atlanta’s own “King of the South” T.I. hosted a special VIP screening of the new film KEANU at Regal Cinemas Atlantic Station. Hundreds packed the theater for a chance to preview the highly-anticipated comedy. Cast members Jordan Peele, Keegan-Michael Key, Method Man and Jason Mitchell were on hand to thank the crowd for their support. Special guests included Keri Hilson, Kelly Price, Egypt Sherrod (HGTV), Robert Riley (VH1 “Hit the Floor”), Clifton Powell, Demetria McKinney, Headkrack (Dish Nation/“Rickey Smiley Morning Show”), DJ Fadelf, D’iallo Thompson (Barbershop: The Next Cut), Beautii J (“Cutting It: In the ATL”), Jasmine Burke(Bounce TV’s “Saints & Sinners”) and more.

Xernona Clayton’s 24th Annual Trumpet Awards

(SL) – Despite the cold weather, Civil Rights Leader Xernona Clayton along with title sponsor American Family Insurance presented the 24 th Annual Trumpet Awards, celebrating and honoring history-making entertainment, humanitarian, political and philanthropic individuals. “The Best Man” and upcoming ‘Uncle Buck’ actress Nia Long and The Perfect Match Actor Terrence J hosted the black-tie ceremony, held at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center in Atlanta, Georgia.

Among the prestigious list of individual honorees at this year’s ceremony include GRAMMY Award winning and platinum-selling artist Ne-Yo, who will be presented with “The Visionary Award;” television and film producer Will Packer, who will be honored with the “Entertainment Award;” legendary comedian and actor George Wallace will receive the “Legend Award” and Alicia Boler-Davis, EVP and COO of General Motors will be honored with the “Corporate Executive of the Year Award.”

In a very special tribute, the African American Women in the United States Congress will be presented with the distinguished “Political Leadership Award” in recognition of their unparalleled leadership and steadfast work in representing their constituents and promoting diversity.

The 24th Annual TRUMPET AWARDS will air onBOUNCE TV and nationally in over 75 markets.
