(Atlanta, GA) – With the help of 15 sponsorship deals including Nissan, Master Card and Nike, Naomi Osaka has topped Forbes’ list of highest-earning female athletes, ending Serena Williams’ four-year run.
Not only is the 22-year old the highest-earning female athlete of the year, she’s has the highest-earning total in 12 months for a female ever. She bested Serena by a little over a million dollars and took the 29th spot on the 100 highest paid athletes list with Serena resting at No. 33. It’s the first time two women have landed in the top 100 overall.
Osaka made an estimated $37.4 million over the past year from endorsements and prize money.
