(Atlanta, GA) – Roadside Attractions held an exclusive red carpet screening of the Atlanta-helmed film, The Last Full Measure at Scad on 14th Street. The movie, which opens in select theaters on Friday, January 24th stars Samuel L. Jackson as Veteran Takoda and Sebastian Stan as Pentagon staffer Scott Huffman.
‘The Last Full Measure’ tells the true story of Vietnam War hero William H. Pitsenbarger, a U.S. Air Force Pararescuemen medic who personally saved over 60 men. During a rescue mission on April 11th, 1966, he was offered the chance to escape on the last helicopter out of a combat zone heavily under fire, but stayed behind to save and defend the lives of his fellow soldiers of the U.S. Army’s 1st Infantry Division, before making the ultimate sacrifice in one of the bloodiest battles of the war.
Thirty-two years later, respected Pentagon Staffer Scott Huffman, on a career fast-track is tasked with investigation a congressional Medal of Honor request for Pitsenbarger made by his best friend and partner on the mission and his parents.
Huffman seeks out the testimony of Army veterans who witnessed Pitsenbarger’s extraordinary valor. But as Huffman learns more about Pitsenbarger’s courageous acts, he uncovers a high level conspiracy behind the decades long denial of the medal, prompting him to put his own career on the line to see justice for the fallen airman.
The movie was shot in Atlanta and serves as the last project for actor, director and screenwriter Peter Fonda.

(SL) – Former U.S. figure skating champion Tonya Harding now says she knew her ex-husband was involved in the attack on skating rival Nancy Kerrigan. In an interview that aired last night on ABC, Harding said shortly after the 1994 U.S. figure skating championships, which she won, she figured out that her ex-husband Jeff Gillooly and the others had likely been behind the attack.
She said she’d overhead Gillooly and a friend talking before the championships about taking someone out so Harding would be sure to make the Olympic team.
Gillooly and three other men were convicted and imprisoned for the attack that injured Kerrigan’s knee and kept her out of the championships. Kerrigan recovered and both she and Harding made the U.S. Winter Olympics team that year. Kerrigan won a Silver Medal at the Games.
A movie based on the attack is receiving decent reviews with Margot Robbie receiving a handful of awards for her portrayal of Harding. ‘I Tonya is a darkly comic biopic that highlights her horrendous relationship with her mother. People Magazine reports, Tonya Harding’s mother LaVona “Sandy” Golden did not mince her words when she spoke about Olympian daughter in new interview.
“She’s lied so much she doesn’t know what isn’t a lie anymore,” Golden told ABC’s Amy Robach during the two-hour special “Truth and Lies: The Tonya Harding Story” that aired Thursday night.

(SL) – The Arts and Icons Master Class opened the doors of the city hall atrium to working and aspiring actors to get some side by side instruction with Emmy award winning actor Keith David. David plays Bishop James Greenleaf on the OWN network hit Greenleaf and his castmates made sure to support his effort. Lamman Rucker, Merle Dandridge and Deborah Joy Winans all showed up and participated in the 4 hour workshop. Ashley Love-Mills from Tyler Perry’s Too Close To Home also participated. I was there hosting and had a chance to interview some of them and flick it up a bit. Check out the images below.
(SL) – Atlanta is turning into the Hollywood of the south partly in part because of people like Oprah Winfrey filming their projects in the city; and actors like Keith David taking up residency while working. Greenleaf has become one of the most popular shows on television and Keith David stars as Bishop Greenleaf in the church drama.
Greenleaf is just one of over 150 credits David has under his name. So, it was no surprise when District 2 City Councilman Kwanza Hall wanted to honor the Emmy award winning actor with a proclamation and award from the Mayor’s Office for Film and TV.
He also declared April 30th Keith David Day. The presentation took place during that Arts and Icons Master Event for working and and aspiring actors. Led by Keith David and hosted by Sytonnia Moore, So You Wanna Be An Actor was a 4 hour workshop designed to give actors the foundation of basics and tips to hone their craft and work side by side with a legend.
After the workshop, David surprised the audience with a performance with his Jazz band! I know right…who knew? The man is synonymous with talent. And as expected, it was good…really good! He hopes to take up residency in Las Vegas and once the word gets out about just how good he is..I’m sure he’ll be booked in no time. In the meantime, you can catch him Wednesday nights on OWN playing James Greenleaf. The mid-season finale airs this week!
