(Cambridge, United Kingdom-AP) – The first marijuana-based drug to get federal approval is going to cost patients around just over 32-thousand-dollars per year. GW Pharmaceuticals says Epidiolex helps reduce seizures in a small number of epilepsy patients. It does not contain any THC, the part of a marijuana plant that makes people high. The FDA approved Epidiolex in June.
A company representative said the price point is in line with other epilepsy treatments and was reached after discussions with insurance companies.
