Attorney General Barr Provides Update on Epstein Case

(Dallas, TX-AP) — Attorney General William Barr says details of the Justice Department’s investigation into Jeffrey Epstein will be available soon.

Speaking today in Dallas, Barr says nothing so far in their findings “undercuts” the medical examiner’s ruling that Epstein died by suicide. Barr says Epstein’s death brought to light irregularities at the Bureau of Prisons and that’s why a new director was appointed.

The 66-year-old Epstein was found dead in his Manhattan jail cell earlier this month as he awaited trial on charges of sex trafficking of minors and sex trafficking conspiracy.

Kate Spade’s Sister Says Designer’s Depression Went Untreated For Years, Reports Of Divorce Added To Suffering

(New York, NY) — Kate Spade’s older sister says the designer’s depression went untreated for years. Reta Saffo told “The Kansas City Star” that Spade was “self-medicating with alcohol,” and resisted family efforts to get her into a hospital treatment program.

Saffo said the 55-year-old was concerned that such news would harm the “happy-go-lucky” Kate Spade brand. She said her sister was “fixated” on the 2014 suicide of comedian Robin Williams, who also took his own life by hanging. Spade’s housekeeper found the fashion mogul dead Tuesday in her Park Avenue Apartment bedroom, a scarf around her neck, hanging from a doorknob and suicide note by her side. Her husband and business partner Andrew Spade was apparently home when her body was discovered by a housekeeper.

kate-spade-andy-spadeAccording to a published report,  the suicide note mentioned her daughter. The “New York Post” says Spade urged her 13-year-old child, Frances Beatrix Spade, not to blame herself for her death.

Other reports claim that she committed suicide because her husband was seeking a divorce. TMZ cites law enforcement sources who say Spade was despondent and did not want her 24-year marriage to end. The report says Kate and Andrew Spade had separated, and he was living in a nearby apartment.

Actor David Spade payed tribute to his late sister-in-law. The actor shared a photo on Instagram of the two of them together and said he still cannot believe she is gone. He also encouraged everyone to hang on in the “rough world.”

She started her fashion brand with his brother/her husband Andrew in 1994.

Atlanta Man Found Hanging Off Of MLK Bridge In The AUC

(Atlanta, GA) – Mystery surrounds the death of a man found hanging from a bridge near Atlanta’s historical black colleges.

Believed to be in his early to mid 20s, no other details have been released about the young black male found with a chain around his neck other than it is believed the keys to the chain were in his pocket.

Atlanta police were called to the 600 block of MLK Drive at about 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Atlanta police Sgt. John Chafee said the chain was locked in several places. Chafee also said investigators canvassed the area and located one person who said they overheard someone yelling “don’t do it.”

Early speculation points to suicide but a full investigation has not been completed yet.

How Many More Kids Do We Have To Lose? 10-Year Old Ashawnty Davis Commits Suicide After Being Bullied Over Video Shared On Internet

(SL) – The fact that she’s only a baby and had to worry about being bullied is hard to accept. The fact that she’s only 10 and was engaged in her ‘first fight’ is even more gut wrenching. And the fact that social media posting guidelines are so unstructured that anyone can post anything no matter what the content makes me sick to my stomach.

In late October, Ashawnty Davis was involved in a fight after school. The 10-year old 5th grader was a student at Sunrise Elementary in Aurora Colorado and was being bullied. She stood up to the bully and while they fought as most kids and adults do nowadays, someone recorded it and posted the clip to musical.ly. Ashawnty was devastated.

After the video hit the site, the bullying and teasing increased. Her mother Latoshia Harris says the abuse turned her daughter into a different person. Two weeks later, the little girl came home and hanged herself in her closet.

As for the Cherry Creek School District which has jurisdiction over Sunrise, they said:

“We do not tolerate bullying of any kind in our schools and we have a comprehensive bullying prevention program in place at all of our schools. The safety and well-being of students is our highest priority and we strive every today to ensure schools are safe, welcoming and supportive places that support learning. We were made aware of that video when a media outlet approached us with it. We took immediate action in response, turning the video over to police and addressing the matter with students.’

Stricter laws need to be placed on the type of content that can be posted to these types of  sites especially as it relates to children. Studies show social media use may have driven the increase in suicide rates.

According to data from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, suicide rates for teens rose steadily between 2010 and 2015 despite two decades of decline,

Cover Up? No Drugs Found In Aaron Hernandez’s System, Current Estate Valued At $0

(SL) – There’s something very off about the death of former NFL player Aaron Hernandez.

The body of the ex-pro reportedly did not contain any traces of drugs, according to toxicology reports.

After Hernandez’s body was found hanging from a sheet in his cell at Souza Baranowski Correctional Center in Shirley, Massachusetts earlier this month, authorities ruled it out as a suicide. Claims soon surfaced that he could’ve smoked synthetic marijuana before allegedly killing himself, but those reports have been refuted.

54741651Sources say the tests performed as part of Hernandez’s autopsy showed he hadn’t used any illegal drugs or synthetic marijuana ‘K2’.

The toxicology results came around the same time Hernandez’s close jailhouse friend and alleged lover Kyle Kennedy said he would not be surprised if the synthetic drug played some part in his death, according to the Boston Herald.  And speaking of Kennedy, none of the letters released have indicated that there was anything outside of a friendship going on between the two.

Kennedy is serving 3-5 years for armed robbery. Hernandez reportedly requested to be housed with Kennedy in his cell, but was denied. That’s no indication that anything was going on between the two. A lot of prisoners complain about not having a cellmate in isolation.

Hernandez  reportedly wrote suicide notes to his fiancee, daughter, and Kennedy, who allegedly was put on suicide watch after his death. It’s being reported that the notes were tucked next to a Bible that was opened to verse 3:16 – the words of which were also written on his forehead in red ink.

The Daily Mail reports, it has been speculated that Hernandez’s sexual orientation may have been a motive for the murder of Odin Loyd, for which he was imprisoned. In April 2015, Hernandez was convicted for shooting and killing Lloyd, a semi-professional football player, on June 17, 2013.

Lloyd may have known that Hernandez was carrying on an affair with a male friend who was forced to testify before the grand jury in the Lloyd case.

Five days before he died, he had been acquitted in a double-murder. His death came on the same day his former teammates visited the White House after winning their fifth Super Bowl.

There are also reports that a civil fight could be brewing with family members of the victims wanting to cash in on a portion of the estimated 3.5 million that could be released to his estate from the NFL.  However, currently the estate is valued at $0.
