(Toledo, OH) – The family of 22-year old Marquise Byrd is asking that the court charge four teens accused of killing the young father as adults.
Authorities say three 14-year-olds and a 13-year-old threw sandbags and other objects onto the southbound lanes of Interstate 75 on December 19. A sandbag hit Byrd after crashing through the window of the car he was traveling in.
Deputy Chief Lori Olender says another vehicle was damaged in the incident so the teens could face two counts of vehicular vandalism.
Even though they are denying the charges against them, on Wednesday they were charged with the murder of Byrd.The boys, who have not been identified because they are minors.
