(Houston, TX-AP) — An NCIS agent is facing charges in connection to an alleged affair with a terror suspect. Federal authorities say 45-year-old Leatrice Malika De Bruhl-Daniels is charged with obstruction of justice.
De Bruhl-Daniels allegedly became romantically involved with Syrian businessman Nadal Diya, who was flagged as a possible terror suspect for his involvement with the illegal shipping of goods from the U.S. to Iran. De Bruhl-Daniels, a career intelligence officer who held a top security clearance, allegedly tried to help Diya obtain a U.S. visa and also alerted him that he was under FBI investigation.
“I can’t stop thinking about … you. I haven’t slept for days. I’m deeply attracted to you and I can’t think about you like that. Don’t worry, I will still fight for your visa situation as much as I can.”
Diya reportedly threw her a lavish birthday party, gave her son a job and even paid for a luxury trip to Greece. The federal agent was arrested in September and will be tried in Houston in December.
