(New York, NY) – The NY post reports, Cops raiding a New Jersey gang den for suspects in the butchering of a Bronx teen recognized one suspect because of his saggy pants, Paterson police said Monday.
New Jersey officials also revealed Monday that they have arrested six suspects tied to the slaying — counting one man in NYPD custody, that brings the total number arrested to seven.
Acting on a tip, cops surrounded a home at East 24th Street and 6th Avenue in Paterson just before 2 p.m. Sunday, local police said.
One officer looked in a second-floor window and saw a suspect matching the description of Bronxite Jose Taverez, 21, officials said.
Cops were looking for a man with similar tattoos and red pants. Taverez wore khaki pants, but he had them hanging so low on his waist that the officer could see the red pants underneath, a department spokesman said.
Taverez spied the cop and leaped out a window, but he was arrested a short time later, officials said.
Hearing the commotion, police breached the house and arrested five more suspects.
