(SL) – The Atlanta Hawks stole the show at this year’s Atlanta Sports Council’s Atlanta Sports Awards. Paul Millsap was nominated for Athlete of the Year, Hawks’ Coach Mike Budenholzer was in the Coach of the Year category and the Atlanta Hawks also had a nod for Team of the Year and were successful in winning all three.
After winning Athlete of the Year, Millsap said , “I was shocked. There are so many great athletes in this city.”
Millsap was the leading scorer for the Hawks who won 60 games and reached the Conference Finals in 2015.
“I’m very appreciative of Atlanta,” Budenholzer said. “I love living here. I love coaching here”The Coach of the Year and Team of the Year awards included nominees at the professional, collegiate and high school levels. The council also handed out awards for Collegiate Athlete of the Year and High School Athlete of the Year. The night concluded with two special presentations, highlighted by former Braves pitcher and Hall-of-Famer John Smoltz accepting the Lifetime Achievement Award.
