Approximately 1,000 Unaccompanied Children in CBP Custody

(AP) – The Customs and Border Patrol agency says about one-thousand unaccompanied migrant children are currently in their custody. In a call with reporters today, CBP officials say the number of children is down from the 26-hundred in custody a week ago.

Additionally, they confirmed 100 children have been moved back to the Clint, Texas facility after nearly 300 were moved out because of inadequate food, water and sanitation. The official added that allegations of civil rights abuses and difficult conditions are “taken seriously” and have been referred to the office of inspector general.

The news comes as President Trump and Democrats battle over a four-point-five-billion-dollar emergency aid bill for the southern border.

Sessions Unhappy With Judge’s Ruling Restoring DACA

(Washington, DC) – Attorney General Jeff Sessions is vowing to fight a judge’s order to restore DACA. A federal judge issued the ruling last Friday, saying the White House failed to lay out its justification for ending the Obama-era program protecting immigrants brought to the U.S. illegally as children.

Sessions argues the Trump administration has the authority to rescind the policy because it was created by a presidential order. He adds that the judge’s ruling was improper because the changes DACA brought about should be made by Congress.
