Vampire Facials” Linked To Two HIV Diagnosis

(Albuquerque, NM-AP) — A recent beauty trend involving blood facials is leaving at least two people with a life altering disease. State health officials in New Mexico say two former clients of a spa that offered “vampire facials” have been diagnosed with HIV.

The treatment gained popularity six years ago when Kim Kardashian posted about it on Instagram.

Tests revealed the strain of the virus was the same in both clients, increasing the likelihood that the HIV infections may have resulted from the procedure at the VIP Spa.

The spa was shutdown in September after it failed a health inspection.

Ex-Girlfriend Sues Charlie Sheen For Allegedly Exposing Her To HIV

(SL) – Here we go again. According to reports, Charlie Sheen is being sued again by an ex-lover who claims he exposed her to HIV. The suit, that doesn’t identify by name Sheen or the ex also claims that he dissuaded her from taking antiretroviral drugs.

The suit was filed Thursday in L.A. County Superior Court. However, MSN.com reports the defendant — referred to as “confidential male defendant” — is said to have learned he was HIV positive in 2011, and given national TV interviews about his HIV status on Nov. 17, 2015, and June 21, 2016. Sheen learned he was HIV positive in 2011, and he publicly revealed it on “The Today Show” on Nov. 17, 2015. He gave an update on the program on June 21, 2016.

The plaintiff is identified only as Jane Doe, and is described as a “Russian émigré.”

The new lawsuit explains that the defendant is not named because the plaintiff signed a non-disclosure agreement. Gary Dordick, the plaintiff’s attorney, is seeking to invalidate the agreement on the theory that it was coerced.

Reportedly, the lawsuit claims the plaintiff met Sheen in September 2015, and they quickly began a sexual relationship. She says she asked him whether he had any sexually transmitted diseases, and he repeatedly assured her that he was “fine.” She says that at first, they used latex condoms but they did have unprotected oral sex. On Oct. 26, 2015, they had unprotected intercourse for the first time, she alleges.

Afterward, she says that Sheen told her that he was in fact HIV positive, and gave her two pills to prevent transmission. The plaintiff became alarmed and upset, and sought emergency medical treatment the next day. She was told she would have to take antiretroviral medication for several weeks.

A few days later, she and Sheen argued about the exposure, according to the suit. He blamed her for the exposure and told her he was “noble” for telling her about his HIV status at all. He also said he had not previously disclosed his HIV status because it was “none of [her] f—ing business.” He also told her that the drugs she had been prescribed were unnecessary, and told her not to believe “the convenient rumors of the medical community.”

He also made bizarre statements, according to the suit, including that “Apocalypse” had “cleansed” her soul and that he could “see the future,” and she was going to be fine.

“This is more about … not if, but when you do come down with this [HIV], that we’re together and at least we have each other,” the suit quotes him as saying.

In addition, the suit alleges that he made repeated use of the n-word, describing himself as “the dumbest f—ing n—– in the room.” He also referred to other women he had slept with and who were threatening him with legal action over HIV exposure as “f—ing n—–s” who had committed “treason,” which was “punishable by death.”

Sheen faced a similar suit in December of 2015 when  Scottine Ross, his ex-fiance,  alleged physical and emotional abuse in addition to HIV exposure. That suit was referred to arbitration.

According To The CDC, Half Of Gay Black Men Will Be Diagnosed With HIV

(SL) -According to the CDC, One in two gay and bisexual black men in the US will be diagnosed with HIV in their lifetime.

In contrast, one in four gay and bisexual Hispanic men will be diagnosed – and one in 11 gay and bisexual white men.

Comparatively, the overall odds of an average American developing HIV is just one in 99.

The Centers Of Disease Control And Prevention reports a number of factors may contribute to the higher risk of HIV associated with gay and bisexual black men.

People living in the District of Columbia have the highest risk of infection - one in 13 - followed by Maryland (one in 49), Georgia (one in 51) and Florida (one in 54). In contrast, North Dakota residents face the lowest risk

WHY BLACK GAY MEN ARE AT RISK

In addition to risk factors affecting all gay and bisexual men, several factors are specific to black gay and bisexual men:

Socioeconomic factors

Blacks are more likely than men of some other races/ethnicities to experience socioeconomic factors that place them at higher risk for HIV infection.

Those factors include limited access to and use of quality health care, lower income and educational levels, and higher rates of unemployment and incarceration.

That factors may help explain why blacks have not made greater gains on the HIV continuum of care.

Smaller and exclusive sexual networks

Black gay and bisexual men are a small subset of all gay and bisexual men, and their partners tend to be of the same race.Overall, men who have sex with men face the highest risk of infection (one in six), followed by people who inject drugs. Heterosexual women face a higher risk of HIV - one in 241 - than heterosexual men - one in 473

Because of the small population size and the higher prevalence of HIV in that population relative to other races/ethnicities, black gay and bisexual men are at greater risk of being exposed to HIV within their sexual networks.

Sexual relationships with older men

Having sexual relationships with older men, who are more likely to have HIV, may increase risk for exposure amongsome young black gay and bisexual men.

Lack of awareness of HIV status

Though black gay and bisexual men report higher HIV testing in the past year than Hispanic/Latino or white gay and bisexual men, they are also more likely to be HIV-positive and not know it because of the higher prevalence of HIV in the population.

People who do not know they have HIV cannot take advantage of HIV care and treatment and may unknowingly pass HIV to others.

Source: CDC

By race, the CDC found that black men face the highest risk - at one in 20. Black women and Hispanic men have the same risk of HIV infection, however, at one in 48

The Truth About Charlie: Did Sheen Hide His Status?

(SL) –  It’s been a blind item for weeks.  Who is the A-list actor that is HIV positive? Fear of an epidemic was set considering the high caliber of the person and now we finally know who it is….Charlie Sheen.  Sad either way because it doesn’t take a thousand lays to get HIV…just one.

Sheen would make all of his guests sign a confidentiality agreement before entering his home.  He reportedly paid strippers and porn stars up to 30,000 a night to party with him while he smoked crack-cocaine.

A total of six women are reportedly planning civil lawsuits and a lot of people are wondering if he will be criminally charged for potentially exposing his partners to HIV. It won’t be easy. In California it will be difficult.

One has to prove not that that person knew but  intentionally tried to hurt you. Charlie’s timeline is under scrutiny.  He told the Today Show that he learned of his status just 4 years ago after experiencing headaches and night sweats. Charlie said, “It’s a turning point in one’s life.”  Overall, It’s unclear when Sheen learned of his diagnosis.
