(Charlottesville, VA-AP) — The man convicted in a deadly car attack at a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia will spend the rest of his life in prison. James Alex Fields Junior was handed down a life sentence today.
He pleaded guilty to nearly 30 federal hate crimes earlier this year for the 2017 crash at the Unite the Right rally.
Fields plowed into a crowd of counter-protestors during the white nationalist rally, killing one person and injuring more than two dozen others. Fields is already serving a life term after being sentenced in Virginia state court.
(Charlottesville, VA) – The Governor of Virginia is declaring a state of emergency ahead of several political rallies planned in Charlottesville.
This weekend is the first anniversary of the white supremacist and alt-right rally marked by the death of counter-protestor Heather Heyer. The organizers of that rally are planning similar protests near the White House on Sunday. Governor Ralph Northam says the emergency declaration helps authorities prepare for possible outbursts of violence in Charlottesville and the DC metro area, although he says he’s hoping for much more peaceful demonstrations.
(SL) – Donald Trump seems to think that among a group of racists white supremacists shouting “Jews will not replace us” where good people. I wonder if he’s referring to this racists individuals who attacked DeAndre Harris during the Charlottesville protests.
Video is now circulating showing the attack in full living color and it is a blessing that this young man is still alive. Harris suffered many injuries and no arrests have been made.
