(AP) – Pharrell Williams is taking legal action against President Trump for using his hit song, Happy, at a political rally hours after the deadly mass shooting at a Pittsburgh synagogue.
He sent a cease-and-desist letter to the commander-in-chief after he played the track at his rally in Indiana on Saturday night. Williams attorney said in a letter that “there was nothing happy about the tragedy inflicted upon our country,” and that Trump did not have permission to use it. Other singers like Steven Tyler, R.E.M. and Queen have also sent the president cease-and-desist letters over his use of their music.
