Americans In Haiti Told To Shelter In Place

(Port-au-Prince) – Violent demonstrations are breaking out in Haiti and Americans are being warned to stay inside for their safety. Protesters have been demonstrating against a sharp rise in fuel prices ordered by the government.

The government has since suspended the increase after protests turned deadly. About 120 Americans were among those trapped in a hotel in the capital of Port-au-Prince after protesters tried to set it on fire and storm the building.

Police were able to keep the demonstrators out of the hotel. The U.S. embassy told Americans on the island to not attempt to travel or drive through roadblocks, and to avoid any large gathering.

Trump’s Vulgar Comment About Haiti Draws Fire From Both Sides Of The Aisle

(Washington, DC) –  Lawmakers from both sides of the aisle are reacting to Trump’s vulgar comment about certain countries. According to the “Washington Post,” Trump made the disparaging remark about Haiti, El Salvador and African nations during immigration negotiations.

Republican Congresswoman Mia Love of Utah is calling on Trump to apologize. Her parents are Haitian immigrants. She said Trump’s comments are “unkind, divisive, elitist, and fly in the face of our nation’s values.”

haitian-tps-protest-immigration-ap-imgRepublican Senator Orrin Hatch said part of what makes America special is that it welcomes the best and brightest in the world, no matter what country they come from. Several Democrats have voiced their outrage.

Colorado Democratic Congresswoman Diana DeGette remarked that Trump’s comment, quote, “proves his ‘America First’ views are rooted in bigotry and xenophobia.” Democratic Senator Bill Nelson of Florida said the President should represent all people, not just some selected favorites. Senator Kamala Harris of California said immigrants should be welcomed, not demeaned and insulted.

Director Of National Intelligence Daniel Coats, And Intel Chiefs Testify To Senate Intel Committee On FISA45 made the comment during a meeting with congressional leaders in the Oval Office on Thursday, according to US media.

“Why are we having all these people from s***hole countries come here?” Trump said after being presented with a proposal to restore protections for immigrants from the countries in question.

The ignorance and racism is exhausting. Does 45 not know that Haiti helped us gain our independence, fighting with us in the Revolutionary War?!! Our brother in freedom and independence! Of course he is denying it saying:

Never said anything derogatory about Haitians other than Haiti is, obviously, a very poor and troubled country. Never said “take them out.” Made up by Dems. I have a wonderful relationship with Haitians. Probably should record future meetings – unfortunately, no trust!

White House Denies Trump Statements Demeaning Immigrants, But Given His Past Most Believe It

(Washington, DC) — The White House is denying a report that President Trump used demeaning language about immigrants in a meeting with top administration officials.

The “New York Times” wrote that in a June meeting, Trump said that people coming to America from Haiti “all have AIDS,” and that Nigerian immigrants would never, quote , “go back to their huts.”

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders issued a statement denying Trump made the comments and blasting the newspaper. She said others in the meeting, including Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and then Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly all deny the “outrageous claims.”

She accused the “New York Times” of printing lies from anonymous sources.

The Washington Post reports, Nigerian American Opal Tometi said Trump’s past comments about immigration and black people make the Times report believable. Tometi, executive director of the Black Alliance for Just Immigration and a co-founder of Black Lives Matter, told the Fix via email:

“Unfortunately, it is all too believable that this is how our president speaks behind closed doors because his very public policies have been driven by racism and hatred since Day 1. From his xenophobic Muslim ban to his cruel and immoral treatment of immigrant dreamers, this merely adds crass words to the racist policies this administration has been pushing for a year.

“President Trump is mentally incapable of imagining the humanity of anyone who looks different from him or hails from a different nation,” Tometi added. “This is perhaps nowhere more true than of his treatment of black immigrants

This creepy image appeared on a weather map of the storm as it hit landfall in Haiti Yesterday.

At it’s height, the hurricane was a Category 5 with wind speeds of more than 157 mph. Those speeds have dropped but forecasters predict it will strengthen to a Category 4 hurricane by the time it pummels Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina.

The National Hurricane Center in Miami has just extended its hurricane watch in Florida top cover a 350-mile stretch from Deerfield Beach near Fort Lauderdale, to Fernandina Beach, meaning hurricane force winds of 74 mph or higher could occur within two days.

The worrying forecast was made all the more unsettling by the appearance of the strange skull formation in the weather map of Hurricane Matthew yesterday. It is REAL and not photo-shopped.
