(New York, NY-AP) –– A New York City woman is back home with her child after spending several days at Rikers Island.
Jazmine Headley is moved by all of the support saying, “All the great support that I’ve been getting in New York and all of the great support that I’ve been getting. I haven’t gotten a chance to read all of the articles and all of the great things and all of the love and I’m accepting it. I’m just so grateful.”
Headley was arrested after a confrontation with officers at a Brooklyn social services office. Video showed the mother having her one-year-old baby ripped from her arms by cops during the altercation. Brooklyn DA Eric Gonzalez announced Tuesday that charges filed against Headley had been dropped. She’s still required to appear before a judge in Mercer County, New Jersey, stemming from charges of credit card fraud.
