(New York, NY) – Rapper DMX is facing the music after being sentenced in a tax fraud case. A judge sentenced DMX to a year in prison on Wednesday. Prosecutors say the rapper, born Earl Simmons, failed to pay nearly two-million-dollars in taxes.
The judge granted a request from Simmons before handing down the sentence and allowed DMX’s song “Slippin” to be played for the court.
His attorney asked that the song be played so the judge could get a better sense of his client’s personality.
