(New York, NY) – Kerry James Marshall’s artwork is worth a lot of money. A painting by the black Chicago artist titled “Past Times” was sold by the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority for just over 21-million-dollars in an auction Wednesday night at Sotheby’s New York.
The sale price was the most ever paid for the work of a living African-American artist. “Past Times” had been on display at McCormick Place for years.
Marshall’s New York dealer, Jack Shainman, told the New York Times that P. Diddy, whose real name is Sean Combs, is the work’s buyer.
(Hollywood, CA) – Singer and actress Mary J. Blige is being honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Blige was grateful to receive her star on her birthday on Thursday.
Her star is in the 62-hundred block of Hollywood Boulevard, which is in front of Eastown, and is the 2,626th star on the Walk of Fame.
Sean “Diddy” Combs was on hand to help the singer unveil her star. Blige has won nine Grammys, had eight multi-platinum albums and sold over 50-million records.
She’s also ventured into acting, receiving a Golden Globe nomination for her role in “Mudbound.”
(SL) – The Jenner sisters made sure to make their rounds at the Met Gala taking publicity op photos where allowed and posting without caution; even breaking a Met Gala ‘NO SELFIE’ rule.
But it didn’t look like they were the only ones, so no big deal. However, one photo is garnering a lot of attention because after Kylie posted the pic featuring her rumored beau Travis Scott and a host of other black entertainers including Sean puff daddy, diddy Combs, the Hip Hop Mogul re-posted it but cropped them out of it.
It’s understood why. If your posting about black excellence, they certainly don’t fit the criteria…but gosh…it was a bit savage.
I do question why these young ladies felt the need throw their middle fingers up? Was that the cool thing to do? I can’t handle women in $5,000 dresses displaying $2 behavior. So unnecessary and really not that cool. A little bit of class is always needed, especially at the Met Gala. As for the revised pic, Diddy wanted to show some team love and well the only way to do that was to crop them out, right?!
Diddy for the win..
