(Nashville, TN) — Kyler Murray is the first athlete to be selected in the first rounds of both the NFL and Major League Baseball drafts. The Heisman Trophy winner and Oklahoma quarterback was selected with the Number One pick by the Arizona Cardinals in the NFL draft on Thursday.
The Oakland A’s picked Murray with the ninth pick of the 2018 draft after a standout career as a center fielder for the Sooners. Oakland offered Murray a four-and-a-half million dollar signing bonus and allowed him to return to Oklahoma to play football for his junior season. Unfortunately for them, he was the Heisman winner that season and became a hot NFL prospect.
The A’s offered Murray an additional 14-million dollars to stick with baseball earlier this month. As the top pick, Murray stands to make about 30 million dollars in his first NFL contract. Murray has announced that he intends to play football.
(Nashville, TN) – Dreams will come true tonight for more than 220 college football players and free agents as 32 teams in the National Football League look to get a roster boost during one of sports’ biggest nights.
The Arizona Cardinals have the top pick and most think they’ll pounce on Heisman Trophy Winner and Oklahoma Sooners’ QB Kyler Murray. If the Cardinals go that route, Murray would be the 22nd Heisman Trophy Winner selected first overall.
But some say don’t write that down in ink. There are rumors that the Cardinals have reached out to Bamma DT Quinnen Williams to let him know that he could be the top draft pick. The Cardinals chose a QB last year with Josh Rosen and his future with Arizona could be up in the air as nobody knows what the plan is. Other draft rumors claim that the Dolphins would like to get their hands on Rosen, so we could see some trading early on.
Other teams to watch for: The Raiders hold three of the first 32 selections with the Giants, Seahawks and Packers also owning multiple first -rounders.
For the first time, the NFL Draft will air on ABC with Good Morning America Host Robin Roberts.
(SL) – Well…this certainly took a turn. I personally don’t think Cam Newton meant any harm when he commented that it’s funny to hear women talk about routes etc. in football.
“I know you take a lot of pride in seeing your receivers play well. Devin Funchess has seemed to really embrace the physicality of his routes and getting those extra yards. Does that give you a little bit of enjoyment to see him truck-sticking people?”
In an odd way, it was borderline complimentary with the acknowledgment that females are front and center with the guys asking good questions. Most men are taken off-guard when women step into a guy’s arena and know their stuff.
I’m sure most people find it quite interesting that the NFL now has a female coach. Shout out to Jen Welter of the Arizona Cardinals. But as the world turns, most took offense and it resulted with Dannon hijacking their endorsement with Cam.
What we didn’t expect was for racists tweets to hit the surface sent by the reporter who asked Cam the question, Jourdan Rodrigue.
After the offensive tweets were circulated, Rodrigue posted one apologizing for them. The Charlotte Observer also posted the statement.
Jourdan issued a statement saying , “I apologize for the offensive tweets from my twitter account 4/5 years ago. There is no excuse for these tweets or the sentiment behind them. I am deeply sorry and apologize. “
