Bad Business: American Airlines Accuses NBA Baller Jeff Teague’s Brother Of Stealing A Blanket

(Dallas, TX) – If you’re a sports fan then you’ve heard of Jeff Teague and his brother Marquis and you know that the baller brothers don’t need to steal anything, let alone some blankets on an American Airlines flight. But that’s exactly what a black flight attendant charged.

Marquis was traveling with his teammate Trahson Burrell and the assistant coach on Christmas Eve attempting to get to Sioux Falls, SD. The two play for the NBA G- League’s Memphis Hustle and the team had a game on Christmas Day.1227-trahson-burrell-marquis-teague-getty-3Reportedly, as the guys boarded the plane and were taking their seats a flight attendant started questioning them about their blankets and ultimately accused the players of stealing them. All three were kicked off the plane, just to be boarded on another flight and flown first class to their destination after the Airline found out that first class passengers had given them the blankets when they boarded.

Marquis Teague is the younger brother of Minnesota Timberwolves PG Jeff Teague. Marquis himself was a first round draft pick in 2012 by the Chicago Bulls.

Both Hustle head coach Glynn Cyprien and assistant coach Darnell Lazare took to Twitter to share their frustration after the incident.

‘American Airlines Needs Sensitivity Training to Attendants on flights dealing with Humans & Blankets!,’ wrote Cyprien.

Lazare: ‘It’s 2017 and a Flight attendant for @AmericanAir sees 2 young black athletes with blankets from first class, his 1st comment is “did you steal them” how about you teach people to get the facts first before jumping to conclusions’

American Airlines spokesperson Joshua Freed says, “We apologize for what occurred on this flight. We take pride in bringing people together, and we know that on this flight we let some of our customers down. Our team at American, along with Envoy Air, is reviewing what happened and will be reaching out to the two players and the assistant coach.”

Burrell and Teague both played in Memphis’s Christmas Day game in Sioux Falls, scoring 14 and 11 points, respectively, while Burrell added 11 rebounds, seven assists and five steals in a 131-115 win Over the Skyforce.
