Killer Mike Apologizes For NRA Interview

(SL) – Run the Jewels rapper Killer Mike is apologizing for an interview he gave to the NRA where he spoke out for gun ownership and discouraged his children from joining school walkouts. In a new video, Mike explains that he actually supports the students who are rallying against gun violence and stressed that he was talking about black people as a minority in the interview.

He says his point is that he wants black people to keep and train with firearms because he doesn’t trust this country. He said the way his interview was used was unfair to those participating in the movement.

Former Police Officer Who Killed Unarmed Black Veteran Sentenced To 20 Years In Prison

(Washington, DC) — A white former South Carolina police officer is heading to prison for 20 years for the murder of an unarmed black veteran.

Michael Slager was sentenced yesterday to 19 to 24 years on a second-degree murder charge in the death of 50-year-old Walter Scott, who was shot two years ago in Charleston after he ran away during a traffic stop.screen_shot_2016-11-29_at_4.26.21_pmSlager was initially facing a state murder, but experienced a mistrial last December after jurors said they could not agree he had “committed a crime.”

He pleaded guilty in May to Deprivation of Rights Under Color Of Law, a federal civil rights charge, and is expected to start his sentence immediately.

Former Arizona Officer Found Not Guilty Of Murdering Unarmed Man

(SL) – A former Arizona police officer is not being charged for the murder of an unarmed man. A jury in Maricopa County found former Mesa policeman Philip Brailsford not guilty yesterday of second-degree murder in the 2016 shooting death of 26-year-old Daniel Shaver.

Shaver was shot at a hotel when officers were responding to a report that someone was pointing a gun out of a window. He was ordered to lay face-down in a hallway. Brailsford claimed he fired because saw the victim reaching for a weapon.  It’s believed that Daniel was actually reaching to pull his pants up.  He was not armed.
