Givenchy founded his fashion house in France in 1952.
In a tribute post on Instagram, Givenchy’s current artistic director Claire Waight Keller called Givenchy “one of the most influential fashion figures of our time,” as well as, “one of the chicest, most charming men” she had ever met.
The editor of French “Vogue,” Emmanuelle Alt, added, “Today we say goodbye to a fashion legend, Monsieur Hubert de Givenchy. You were the incarnation of chic.”

(London, England) – Two men have been arrested in the fatal stabbing of 25-year old model Harry Uzoka.
Signed to Premier Model Management, the same modelling agency that helped launch the careers of models Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford, Uzoka was described on social media as an “icon for black boys in the UK”.
He’d been seen in campaigns for elite companies like Mercedes, Zara and most recently GQ. He was stabbed in the heart in London. George Koh, 24, and Jonathan Okigbo, 23, are alleged to have attacked the young model outside of a block of flats in Shepherd’s Bush.
Koh, of York Way, Camden, and Okigbo, of Trevithick House, Kentish Town, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
The pair spoke only to confirm their names, dates of birth and addresses. Koh has also been charged with the possession of an offensive weapon. They were remanded in custody and will appear at the Old Bailey on Thursday.
Scotland Yard detectives believe Mr. Uzoka was attacked outside Ollgar House in Ollgar Close shortly before 4pm on Thursday 11 January. He collapsed in nearby Old Oak Road and was pronounced dead at the scene at 5pm despite the efforts of Air Ambulance doctors.
(SL) – The family of fashion designer Gianni Versace is blasting the FX network’s upcoming “American Crime Story” installment on his murder. The family calls the episode a work of fiction, based on a book the family didn’t authorize.
The Versace family has released a statement warning fans that they have nothing to do with the new season of American Crime Story. The Assassination of Gianni Versace, follows the death and investigation regarding the legendary fashion company’s founder, Gianni Versace.
Various members of the family will also be portrayed in the show, including the company’s current chief designer and Vice President, Donatella Versace, who is played by Penelope Cruz. Gianni Versace will be played by Edgar Ramirez, while Gianni’s brother, Santo, will be played by Giovanni Cirfiera.
The family sent out the following statement regarding the show:
“The Versace family has neither authorized nor had any involvement whatsoever in the forthcoming TV series about the death of Mr. Gianni Versace. Since Versace did not authorize the book on which it is partly based nor has it taken part in the writing of the screenplay, this TV series should only be considered as a work of fiction.”
FX responded with a statement yesterday saying it stands by the reporting of author Maureen Orth, whose book “Vulgar Favors” is the basis for “The Assassination of Gianni Versace.”
“Like the original American Crime Story series The People vs. OJ Simpson, which was based on Jeffrey Toobin’s nonfiction bestseller The Run of His Life, FX’s follow-up The Assassination Of Gianni Versace is based on Maureen Orth’s heavily researched and authenticated nonfiction best-seller Vulgar Favors, which examined the true life crime spree of Andrew Cunanan. We stand by the meticulous reporting of Ms. Orth.”
The 9-part series airs January 19th.
Versace was shot to death outside his Miami home in 1997 by Andrew Cunanan. Cunanan killed himself eight days afterwards. Cunanan was later found to have killed at least four other people that year.
(SL) – MSN reports, Sterling Shepard’s New York Giants have suffered a lot of losses this season, but the wide receiver scored a major win this weekend.
Shepard posted a photo on his Instagram account of him proposing to his girlfriend, SI Swimsuit model Chanel Iman, who said yes. In his caption, Shepard used an appropriate metaphor, calling Iman “The catch of my dreams.”
Iman posted the same photo on Instagram and captioned it, “A night full of tears of happiness.
I’m beyond excited to spend the rest of my life with you @sterl_shep3 you are my soulmate, my best friend, my everything! Can’t wait to be your Mrs.”
According to E!, Shepard proposed to Iman on her birthday Friday night, then surprised her by taking her to a spot where her friends and family were gathered.
Shepard, 24, was a second-round pick by the Giants out of Oklahoma last year. He has 1,185 yards and nine touchdowns in his career. The two have been dating since at least late last year.
(SL) – “These expensive. These is Red Bottoms. These is bloody shoes.” A line from rapper Cardi B’s hit song ‘Bodak Yellow’ is adding to the popularity of the famed brand Christian Louboutin.
Girls and Guys alike love to be laced in the designer’s red sole shoes and Cardi B says Louboutin should slide her a pair of free boots for the plug. She captioned a photo of the stats on Instagram with, “want a free boot @louboutinworld 😩😩😩😩”
According to the Business of Fashion, since Bodak Yellow dropped, it’s spurred a 217 percent spike in searches for Christian Louboutin shoes. It also claims the New Yorker has a media value of about $4.5 million.
Christian Louboutin is only fairly familiar with the rapper telling the New York Times in October, “She has the hair like that? She’s a rapper? This ‘Yellow’ song?” He said while describing Cardi B’s bob hairstyle with his hands. “I don’t know much more than that, to be honest.”
But obviously, Cardi (real name Belcalis Almanzar) knows a whole lot about his brand and the two of them collaborating isn’t so far-fetched. Even though he’s “not a big rap person” Louboutin says he’s open to meeting the Bodak Yellow chart topper, if she ever came to Paris. “Why not?” He said.
And yes…we agree why not?! Cardi has become an industry favorite after knocking Tay-Tay (Taylor Swift) out of Billboard’s number one spot and has been spotted on various red carpets from the MTV Video Music Awards to Rihanna’s Diamond Ball and even performed at Jay Z’s annual Made In America Festival.
As for her love for the ‘bloody shoes’, An admirer from the strip club she worked at gifted her with her first pair when she was 19. Currently, her stylist, Kollin Carter, says she has over 90 pairs and buys them “every couple of weeks”.
(SL) – The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show finally got underway in China but all anyone wants to talk about it Ming Xi’s fall on the runway. All models fear falling on the runway. From the crazy shoes and attire they have to walk in it’s surprising that we haven’t seen more of them slip. Naomi Campbell can attest to the difficulties in balancing between 8 inch platforms and garments that drape the floor and get tangled easily.
Wrapped up in her Goddess Segment literally, she maintained her composure as she fell to her knees. With a little help from model Gizele Oliveira , Xi completed her walk to cheers from the crowd as she got back on her feet.
(SL) –There’s no other way to put it. China is not with the sh**s (…as the kids say). After banning ‘Swish Swish’ singer Katy Perry indefinitely for wearing a disrespectful dress during a show a couple of years ago; and Gigi Hadid for her insensitive video with Buddha references, rumor has it that Chinese officials are keeping a tight eye on the model visitors.
The government is reportedly combing the social media accounts and media coverage of anyone set to appear in the show.
Harry Styles will replace Katy Perry, but the problems stretch further. Russian models Julia Belyakova, Kate Grigorieva and Irina Sharipova and Ukranian model Dasha Khlystun, who booked spots in the show, were also denied visas.
Word has it that they’re also looking at media hoping to cover the show.
“We’re told fashion bloggers booked to cover the glitzy event are canceling their trips because the Chinese government won’t give them visas; TV producers are grappling with bureaucrats over permission to shoot outside the Mercedes-Benz Arena, where it’s being held (“If you’re going to China, you want to show that you are in China!” fumed an insider); and Victoria’s Secret staffers in China can’t send out press releases because they have to be approved by government officials.
“It’s just a nightmare for all the media trying to cover [the show],” said a jet-setting insider. “These TV companies are spending a fortune on it, and they don’t even know what they can shoot when they get there.”
We’re told that producers charged with coordinating the coverage for various outlets are “on the verge of nervous breakdowns.”
(SL) – Katy Perry and Gigi Hadid are missing the Victoria’s Secret Fashion show after being denied entry into China.
Pop singer Perry was set to perform at the annual lingerie fashion show in Shanghai on Monday, while model Gigi Hadid was set to strut the runway.
Both were denied visas into the nation over different offenses. While Perry was initially informed that she’d be able to gain access, the decision was apparently reversed after the government caught wind of a controversial incident from 2015, in which Perry donned a dress with sunflowers on it during a performance in Taipei, the capital of Taiwan.
Apparently, sunflowers have become a symbol for a group of anti-China protesters. Perry also waved a Taiwanese flag during the concert in show of support for the country, which has been butting heads with China for years over its independence.
Hadid was not allowed to enter the country after she apparently made fun of Buddha on an Instagram story earlier this year.
In that video, she squints her eyes to imitate Buddha’s face on a cookie she’s holding up. Hadid has since apologized for the video on social media.
