Nancy Pelosi Announces Impeachment Inquiry Against Trump, Congress Reacts

(Washington, DC-AP) – Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle are reacting to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s decision to launch an impeachment inquiry against President Trump. Connecticut Democratic Senator Chris Murphy says the transcript of President Trump’s phone call with the Ukrainian president is “devastating.” Texas Democrat Al Green has long believed Congress has a duty to move forward with impeachment.

Washington Democrat Pramila Jayapal added a vote on articles of impeachment would pass on the House floor. Republican Senator Mitt Romney says the transcript is “deeply troubling” to the extreme.

Ranking Member on the House Judiciary Committee Doug Collins says Democrats are “trying to hit the imaginary target of getting rid or a president that they don’t like.”
