(AP) – U.S. officials say Iranian military vessels tried to seize a British oil tanker in the Persian Gulf. CNN reports the incident happened as the British Heritage tanker was leaving the Persian Gulf Wednesday and crossing into the Strait of Hormuz.
The Iranian boats reportedly approached the vessel and ordered it to move into Iranian waters. A British Royal Navy frigate was nearby escorting the tanker and trained its guns on the Iranian vessels then ordered them to back off.
Recently, the British military seized an Iranian tanker that was bound for Syria.
