New Mexico Mayor Issues Cease-And-Desist To Group Building Border Wall

(Sunland Park, NM-AP) — A private group building a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border is being issued a cease-and-desist order by the mayor of a New Mexico town. The Texas Tribune says the order was issued yesterday by the mayor of Sunland Park, just north of El Paso, after it was determined that the group did not have the proper permits for construction.

A half-mile border wall was constructed over the Memorial Day weekend on private property owned by a brick company in Sunland Park. The construction was paid for by a private group called We Build The Wall, which has raised 22-million-dollars to build a wall on the U.S. border with Mexico.
