Independent Autopsy Reveals Alabama Mall-Shooting Victim Was Struck From Behind

(Birmingham, AL-AP) — An independent autopsy is revealing that an Alabama man who was mistakenly killed by police on Thanksgiving night was shot three times from behind. Lawyer Benjamin Crump says Emantic “E.J.” Fitzgerald Bradford Jr. was shot in the head, neck and back at the Riverchase Galleria.

The case has gained national attention as police thought 21-year-old Bradford was the gunman in the shooting when they fatally shot him. Police later retracted their statement and identified 20-year-old Erron Brown as the gunman.

Crump said forensic evidence suggests that Bradford was moving away from police, noting that you’re not a threat when you’re running away.
