(Philadelphia, PA) – Jay-Z is criticizing the Philadelphia mayor’s decision to keep his annual Made In America music festival out of the city next year. The rapper said in an open letter to the Philadelphia Inquirer that Mayor Jim Kenney has banned the festival from taking place at the city’s Benjamin Franklin Parkway.
The event has been held there every year since 2012. Jay-Z said he is disappointed because Kenney allegedly made the decision without speaking to him about it first. He also claims Kenney tried to keep Made In America out of the Parkway this year.
Jay-Z says having it in Philadelphia is integral because the city and the festival both represent the same ideals. He also claims that Made in America has helped boost the city’s tourism.
