(London) – Angelique Kerber has spoiled Serena Williams’ bid to win her first Grand Slam title since becoming a mother. It was an amazing run by Williams but Kerber claimed her third major championship by easily defeating the tennis G.O.A.T. 6-3, 6-3 in the Wimbledon final.
Serena had been going for her 24th Grand Slam title and eighth Wimbledon crown just 10 months after giving birth. After having her daughter in September and several surgeries due to post-labor complications, Williams said making a comeback at Wimbledon this year was important to her.
Kerber, the former No. 1 player in the world, avenged her loss to Williams in the 2016 Wimbledon final and earned her first title at the All England Club.
