(Washington, DC) — Former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe is blasting President Trump after he was fired by Attorney General Jeff Sessions. In a lengthy statement, McCabe claims quote: “The OIG’s focus on me and this report became a part of an unprecedented effort by the Administration, driven by the President himself, to remove me from my position, destroy my reputation, and possibly strip me of a pension that I worked 21 years to earn.”
The OIG is a reference to Office of Inspector General, a post occupied by a former President-Obama appointee. McCabe goes on to say that he is being “attacked” and “singled out” because of the role he played after the firing of former FBI Director James Comey.
The FBI recommended that McCabe be fired after a report said he misled investigators about his decision to authorize FBI officials to speak to the media about an investigation into the Clinton Foundation. The DOJ added that “McCabe had made an unauthorized disclosure to the news media and lacked candor – including under oath – on multiple occasions.” His firing impacts when he will receive his full pension.
