Trump’s Vulgar Comment About Haiti Draws Fire From Both Sides Of The Aisle

(Washington, DC) –  Lawmakers from both sides of the aisle are reacting to Trump’s vulgar comment about certain countries. According to the “Washington Post,” Trump made the disparaging remark about Haiti, El Salvador and African nations during immigration negotiations.

Republican Congresswoman Mia Love of Utah is calling on Trump to apologize. Her parents are Haitian immigrants. She said Trump’s comments are “unkind, divisive, elitist, and fly in the face of our nation’s values.”

haitian-tps-protest-immigration-ap-imgRepublican Senator Orrin Hatch said part of what makes America special is that it welcomes the best and brightest in the world, no matter what country they come from. Several Democrats have voiced their outrage.

Colorado Democratic Congresswoman Diana DeGette remarked that Trump’s comment, quote, “proves his ‘America First’ views are rooted in bigotry and xenophobia.” Democratic Senator Bill Nelson of Florida said the President should represent all people, not just some selected favorites. Senator Kamala Harris of California said immigrants should be welcomed, not demeaned and insulted.

Director Of National Intelligence Daniel Coats, And Intel Chiefs Testify To Senate Intel Committee On FISA45 made the comment during a meeting with congressional leaders in the Oval Office on Thursday, according to US media.

“Why are we having all these people from s***hole countries come here?” Trump said after being presented with a proposal to restore protections for immigrants from the countries in question.

The ignorance and racism is exhausting. Does 45 not know that Haiti helped us gain our independence, fighting with us in the Revolutionary War?!! Our brother in freedom and independence! Of course he is denying it saying:

Never said anything derogatory about Haitians other than Haiti is, obviously, a very poor and troubled country. Never said “take them out.” Made up by Dems. I have a wonderful relationship with Haitians. Probably should record future meetings – unfortunately, no trust!
