(SL) – When Kyle Korver hit the court Tuesday night you could tell he was in a zone. He looked intense and although he was probably walking at a normal pace as he made his way through the line, the ferocious look he had in his eyes made it look as if he was walking in slow motion.
Korver was indeed about to make a movie. Out the gate the 3 point king was draining threes and forcing the Celtics to reevaluate any defensive measure they thought they could angle. Korver had 17 pts, 7 rebounds and shot 5-7 from the arc helping the Hawks take game 2 in the NBA playoffs 89-72. Yes, Korver had the same number of 3 pointers as the entire Celtics team. Korver also had 1 BS to add to a franchise record 15 blocks for the Hawks.
Post Game I asked the 3pt king about his shooting and the intensity he carried for the night:
Celtics Coach Brad Stevens was asked if they were slightly misled by Korver’s 2 pts in game 1 and he quickly responded with, “No.” Stevens said that Korver is the type of player that’s a part of Boston’s daily conversation. He said there were no excuses for what happened. Atlanta dominated the game and that’s it.
Coach Brad Stevens Part II
The Celtics were led by Isaiah Thomas who scored 16 points. Boston was held to just 72 points for the game and shot poorly from the 3 pt line (5-28). They shot just 32 % from the field.
