(Atlanta, GA) – Perhaps the 9 day All-Star Break was a little bit too longer. The Atlanta Hawks looked like they needed a practice run before jumping back into things following a week and some chagne off. DeWayne Wade nor Chris Bosh took the floor with the Miami Heat Friday night so one would assume this to be an easy win for Atlanta, but it wasn’t. Luol Deng was downright hurtful and a serous problem for the Hawks pulling a 30 pints and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact 3 of Miami’s players had double doubles with Goran Dragic hitting 17 points and dishing up 10 assists. Josh McRoberts who came off the bench also had 19 points and 10 assists, helping the Heat take the W 115-111. Paul Millsap was the only double for the hosting Hawks with 12 points and 13 boards. Jeff Teague with 23 points, led Atlanta in scoring, With Korver and Horford chipping 18 and 14 respectively.
Kent Bazemore who will be a free agent this summer seemed to struggle shooting just 3 of 9 from the field. He had 4 turnovers adding to a total of 21 for the Hawks. While the Heat mishandled the ball 14 times. The Heat only had 9 players and coming in Miami Coach Erik Spoelstra said he wanted collective grit and that’s what his boys gave him. Forward Luol Deng said, ” We were moving the ball and we did a good job attackng the paint. We knew we were missing D-Wade and CB so we knew we had to come out with a lot of energy. We’ve been in situations like this, but we knew we were going to play with a lot of energy and a lot of heart. ”
Atlanta and Miami are battling for that top Southeastern spot. This win surely gives the Heat the upper-hand but hopefully, the Atlanta Hawks will be able to bounce back Saturday night against the Bucks while the Heat will play the Wizards.
