(SL) – Patrol Officer Darren Dye-Harriel s is sitting in cell 12 after allegedly sexually assaulting a woman he offered a ride to.
According to authorities the sexual assault allegation was filed Wednesday morning and was investigated by the DeKalb County Police Special Victims Unit. Hours later, officers arrested officer Darren Dye-Harriel who has been with the department for one year.
Dye-Harriel was charged with aggravated sodomy, kidnapping, making false statements and violation of oath of office. He was on duty when the incident occurred.
Dye-Harriel has been placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation.
“I am deeply disturbed by these allegations,” interim Chief James Conroy said. “We will not tolerate any such criminal actions. I am pleased with the swift investigative actions of our detectives, which led to the arrest and charges in the case.”
